The salon is steeped in history, particularly associated with the Enlightenment Paris meetings of Voltaire and Rousseau. Whilst we’re not aiming for those dizzying intellectual heights, the Golden Hare Readers’ Salon will be an informal but animated affair, where attendees will be united by what they’re reading. Unlike our monthly book group, there’s no theme or set text to be read in advance, just come along and talk about what you’ve been reading, soak up others’ recommendations and chat about all things book related! Participants in our 2017 Reading Challenge are particularly welcome to discuss the categories they’re combating, but really we want this to be a very open forum where conversation is at ease. You can read more about the challenge and our idea behind the Readers’ Salon here.
Our first meeting of the Readers’ Salon is on Monday 6th February at the bookshop. It’s free to come along, and no booking is required – just show up! We’ll start at 6.30pm and wrap up about an hour later, or however long people want to chat. There will be wine and nibbles provided, and 10% off books!
This group will run once a month on the first Monday of each month. We really hope to see you there to give this group a great boost as it starts! Any questions, please just let us know.
