Independent bookshop Golden Hare Books in Stockbridge, Edinburgh is looking to collaborate with a book blogger/vlogger. This is a new role and we are looking to build a relationship with an experienced blogger with a passion for physical books and bookshops.
We don’t want to say too much in the ad as we are really looking for someone to bring great ideas to the table! Some things we’d be keen to get underway are a blogger review column as well as events (book blogging workshops?) and competitions.
In return we can offer:
- £50 per month stipend (+ 50% share of ticket fees from collaborative events)
- Blogger-in-Residence would enjoy staff discount in the bookshop (35%) and a free tote bag
- Use of our Bookshop for book-related events
- Endorsement of your blog with regular updates on our social media
- Fun chats about books
As for criteria, we are keen to receive applications from far and wide from great book writers everywhere. Some experience of book blogging is necessary but we welcome applications from emerging bloggers as well as established ones. Familiarity with our bookshop is preferred but not essential, but a keen love of books and knack for writing all about them is crucial. There is no contract for this role but we would ask the blogger in question to commit to the role for at least six months. The bookshop is in Edinburgh and although we do not require the blogger to be Edinburgh-based, they should be familiar with the city and be expected to visit every so often. Travel expenses for bookshop related visits can be discussed.
If you are interested, please email telling us why you’d like to be our Blogger-in-Residence and what you could bring to the table. All ideas welcome! Please also include links to your blog and provide us with details about your readership and engagement with followers.
Applications should be addressed to Julie Danskin (Bookshop Manager) and emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. Deadline at 6pm Saturday 31st March. We will invite our favourites for an informal interview at the beginning of April.
