Golden Hare Books is delighted to be hosting the launch of Claire Askew’s debut novel, All the Hidden Truths. Come and join us at Customs House for a glass of wine to celebrate this compelling debut, and listen to Claire talk about her dark and engrossing novel!

‘Top-class writing…When we think about Edinburgh crime our thoughts turn to Ian Rankin and Val McDermid. Claire Askew could be up there with them.’ The Bookbag

On the 14th May at 8.20am Ryan Summers walked in to Three Rivers College in Edinburgh and started shooting.

The day before DI Helen Birch started a new job. The day before Isbel Hodgekiss argued with her daughter. The day before Moira Summers tried to talk to her son.

This is a fact: Ryan Summers walked into Three Bridges College and killed twelve women, then himself. But no one can say why. The question is one that cries out to be answered – by Ryan’s mother, Moira; by Ishbel the mother of Abigail, the first victim; and by DI Helen Birch, put in charge of the case on the first day in her new job.

But as the tabloids and the media swarm, as the families’ secrets come out , and as the world searches for someone to blame…the truth seems to vanish.

As the shooting ripples out across the lives of these three women, all of them are searching for answers to the unanswerable. It is a stunningly moving novel from an exciting new voice. All the Hidden Truths will cause you to question your assumptions about the people you love, and reconsider how the world reacts to tragedy.

  1. Hello Claire,
I would love to be at your book launch! The date is in my diary and if I can I will be there. At the moment due to family stuff I am unable to commit to anything in August, which is a real pain as you can imagine. Good luck with the launch and hopefully ?I will be there, definitely buying the book!
    All the best
    Sheila
