YA Book Group: Heartstopper Vol. I by Alice Oseman

April 15 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Join our book group celebrating the very best in young adult fiction…

YA is one of the fastest growing and most successful categories in the book trade – and for good reason! Progressive politics, complex characters and thrilling stories of human connection and experience are worth celebrating in books. Now you can read some of the best contemporary young adult fiction and come along to a comfortable space where you can discuss it in depth with others – whilst enjoying refreshments. And best of all – it’s free to join!

How it works

  • Reserve a space online or in-store, read the book and turn up! This book group is run by Katalina, our resident YA expert.

  • Please let us know in plenty time if you can no longer attend so we can offer your place to someone else.

  • Please turn up on time so we can begin the discussion promptly.

  • Please read the book before coming!

In April we are reading our first graphic novel entry for YA book club, volume 1 of Heartstopper, and LGBTQ+ romance by Alice Oseman… Buy it from us and get 10% off!

Boy meets boy. Boys become friends. Boys fall in love.

An LGBTQ+ graphic novel about life, love, and everything that happens in between – for fans of The Art of Being Normal, Holly Bourne and Love, Simon. Charlie and Nick are at the same school, but they’ve never met … until one day when they’re made to sit together.

They quickly become friends, and soon Charlie is falling hard for Nick, even though he doesn’t think he has a chance. But love works in surprising ways, and Nick is more interested in Charlie than either of them realised. Heartstopper is about love, friendship, loyalty and mental illness.

It encompasses all the small stories of Nick and Charlie’s lives that together make up something larger, which speaks to all of us. ‘The queer graphic novel we wished we had at high school.’ Gay TimesThis is the first volume of Heartstopper, with more to come.
