The original Golden Hare group, our monthly book group has been running for as long as we have. Meeting on the last Tuesday of each month at 6.30pm in the bookshop, the group sits down with a glass of wine and some nibbles to discuss one book a month, selected from a range of contemporary and backlist fiction as well as the occasional non-fiction book for good measure.
We’ve covered a real mixed bag of literature over the past five years – to see what we’ve read and what’s coming up next, click here.
Keen to come along? There’s no need to reserve a place, just read the book and come along! Attendees get 15% off the next book group book.
We’re so excited about this development! Our Writer-in-Residence, author of esteemed poetry collection This Changes Things Claire Askew, begins a writing group this April, running fortnightly for an eight-session semester. The first semester is now full and we received a lot of interest, so keep an eye on our newsletters to see when we might be recruiting again.

The idea for this group came from sharing book recommendations at the end of Book Group discussions. We really liked the idea of acting as host for readers to come together in an informal forum setting, where we can discuss what we’re reading, gather recommendations and meet new people.
It’s a group that’s still taking off, and we’d love for more people to come along and be part of it! We meet on the first Monday of every month at 6.30pm in the bookshop. No need to book!
