At Golden Hare Books we value forming relationships with Edinburgh's rich community of writers, illustrators and independent presses.

If you would like to contact Golden Hare Books regarding stocking a title, please read the following information closely before getting in touch:

1. We are only able to hold items that are indexed on our systems via our main suppliers (for example, Gardners). If your title is not indexed here then we regret that we cannot take it further for the time being

2. If your work is eligible for consideration, please send an email to As a consequence of the volume of submissions we receive we are now unable to accept submissions in store - email is the only submissions route we will accept

3. In your email you should provide a brief synopsis of the work, outlining the plot/structure and any aspects that you think may be of relevance. We receive a lot of correspondence, so brief and to the point is definitely the most successful route for any submissions

4. If you have any high quality promotional images or clear pictures of the cover and pages of the book, we would appreciate you including a few of these in your email too. Print quality and aesthetics are crucial elements for us when selecting new stock

Any submissions which don't follow the instructions above will not be accepted, so please stick to them for a greater possibility of any submission becoming successful.

If we don't get back to you, we regret that your submission isn't the right one for us.

For more information and tips on how to go about getting published and eventually having your work stocked in a bookshop, we recommend purchasing The Writer’s and Artist’s Yearbook. This is an annual publication full of such advice and is available to purchase from ourselves and most good bookshops - just contact us if you'd like a copy.
